Hi, I’m Simon. Welcome to Mind Upgrade Lab!

For years, I’ve been on a journey to optimise my mind—hacking productivity, refining my programming skills, studying entrepreneurship and experimenting with ways to manage narcolepsy and ADD. Mind Upgrade Lab is where I document these experiences, sharing what works (and what doesn’t) in hopes of helping others on a similar path.

Like many in the tech world, I thrive on problem-solving. But when you add conditions like narcolepsy and ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) into the mix, traditional productivity advice doesn’t always apply. Faced with my predicament, I had only two options: accept my fate and give in, or do what I do best—problem-solving.

I wasn’t always aware of my conditions. For the first 32 years of my life, I had no idea they even existed. The only one I had heard of was ADHD, but I never truly related to it due to the fact that I was not really hyperactive.

Naturally, my first attempts to manage my narcolepsy were primitive. My solution? Red Bull. Every time I felt a sleep attack begin to rear it’s ugly head, I’d reach for a can, convinced that more caffeine was the answer. Sadly, it was not so simple. That said, I do enjoy the taste of Red Bull—there’s something about the chemical-like flavour that attracts me to it. Maybe that’s why I also like Cherry Drops too.
